Where this training takes you: Postpartum Caregiver
Postpartum Caregiver / Postpartum Support Worker · Maternal & Newborn Support
The Postpartum Caregiver provides compassionate, non-clinical support to mothers and newborns during the postpartum period — helping mothers recover, assisting with daily newborn care, and promoting a safe, respectful and nurturing environment.
What graduates typically do
- Provide practical support to mothers after childbirth
- Assist with newborn care — bathing, dressing, burping and comfort
- Support feeding routines and basic breastfeeding support within scope
- Assist with light mother-and-baby related household tasks
- Monitor and report concerning changes to a parent or healthcare professional
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to new mothers
- Promote hygiene, dignity, privacy and respectful maternity care
- Work collaboratively with families, midwives, nurses and doulas
Scope of practice: The Postpartum Caregiver provides non-clinical support and does not diagnose, prescribe medication, perform medical procedures, or replace a qualified healthcare professional.

The R500 registration fee is non-refundable and secures your place in the cohort. It is separate from the R6,000 course fee.
